Pendant And Engraving Possibilities

At Etched In Memories (www.etchedinmemories.com.au) we specialise in personalised gifts particularly that of engraved pendants. When it comes down to your pendant choices and engraving options, there are actually quite a few varieties. It all depends on your budget and your specific gift requirements.

First you need to look at your pendant metal options. We have a choice of stainless steel, gold plated, sterling silver, yellow gold and white gold pendants available. These range in cost from $37.95 for gold plated up to $637.95 for white gold.

Next you have to consider what shape you might want and of course this is closely related to the size and shape of the photo or image you are engraving on the pendant. The shapes we have in current stock are hearts, squares, ID tags, ovals, circles and rectangles. There are other shapes available although we do not hold them in store. If you have a special request, please let us know. The white and yellow gold pendant also comes in two thicknesses, that of 0.6mm and 1mm.

Then of course you have to decide on the actual image/s or photograph/s you would like engraved on the pendant. You can choose to engrave either one or both sides of the pendant with photos, logos, text and more. Our quality affordable metals are perfect for key rings and bookmarks while our 9ct gold or sterling silver pendants are more suitable for beautiful jewellery pieces.

We also offer an engraving only service and can engrave on pendants, zippo lighters, watches and business card holders. Again contact us for more information if you have a specialised order. Suitable items need to be perfectly flat, no thicker than 20mm and no wider than 80x80mm.

We love to assist in creating and preserving your special memories. And as our way of saying thank you, all pendants come with free gift-wrapping, cleaning cloth, standard postage Australia-wide and our promise to treat your memories with care and provide you with a stunning, quality keepsake.

Sentimental Gifts for Christmas

Thinking about Christmas, what are you planning on giving your mum, dad, nanna or grandpa?  Sentimental gifts are ideal as they signify how important you value the relationship and a great way to show how much you care for that person.

In today’s fast paced world simply taking a bit of time out to show your appreciation and that you care is priceless.  Whether it is a picture relating to a specific event or celebration, maybe a small pendant with some heart felt words inscribed on one side or another personalised keepsake, they can make a perfect gift and leave a lasting impression.

We have a huge range of products available that would make an ideal sentimental gift.  For example, have a look at the Gold Plated Pendant that is in the shape of a heart.  You can have a photo on one side and your special text message on the other side.

Consider the Sterling Silver Pendant that is oval shaped and hand made to order by a Master Jeweller.  You can also add in a photo on one side as well as your own special message on the other side.  Plus we have several additional options to choose from including a key chain or a sliver necklace.

These are just a couple of examples of gifts where you can create the sentimental value although feel free to have a look through our site for many more special gift ideas.

Christmas is a great time for sentimentality so hopefully you will find something to show your appreciation and the importance that the person has had in your life.

Gifts For The New Baby

If you are like most parents, you have a special item belonging to each child tucked away to keep safe now that they have outgrown it. Often it is a special toy or something that holds a particular memory.

Me? I kept all the cards we received on the birth of my children and I also kept the little gifts we were given to celebrate their birth. It is such a magical stage of life that I didn’t want to forget any of it.

It didn’t take long to be sucked into the routine of our new lives once the babies came home. Feeding, changing, burping, getting baby to sleep, then doing it again the next day and the next…suddenly it was our child’s first birthday and I wondered what had happened to that last 12 months.

As you can probably guess, I am a sentimental person. I treasure every little memory shared with my children but I admit that I still go back to that safe hiding place sometimes. I pull out the little birth gifts and hold them close. I smell the newborn baby smell that still lingers and it brings those days back to me. It is an emotional experience.

That is why we put so much thought into our newborn baby gifts. We chose the teddy bears because every baby should have a teddy but we also chose them because they are so good to cuddle when you want to relive your child’s days as a newborn. They are a soft, squishy armful.

We also include a photo engraved pendant as a permanent remembrance of your child’s first days. So, while you have that special hug from the teddy bear, you can shed a few tears as you look down at the face of your newborn once again.

We think this is the perfect gift for the new baby (well, for you, really.)

Engraved Art

A recent order made me think about a new and different way to preserve memories. Preserving your child’s artwork as an engraved pendant is not only unique but holds that memory of your child forever.

The piece of artwork may relate to a specific time in your child’s life or even be linked to a specific event such as a birthday or other celebration. Throughout kindergarten and primary school your child is sure to have painted or drawn some unique images of friends, activities or even something from their imagination. Often they are bright, colourful and from a loving parents perspective, quite artistic. Importantly, they are also likely to be special to your child at the time.

My children each have their own special ways of drawing. When I look at a painting I can tell who has painted it just from looking at the characters. There is a certain way of painting a smile or the hands that identifies the artist as clearly as a thumbprint. Wouldn’t it be lovely if the work could last forever?

Often as they grow these memories are lost and forgotten so instead of losing them, why not preserve them forever with our range of pendants? How unique and special would that be?

What Do You Remember About Your Mum?

What do you remember about your mum? Most mums have had a significant role and impact in our lives and have had a huge role in our mental, physical and emotional development. On one hand they may be the authoritive task master demanding we pick up our clothes, clean our bedrooms and clean up our mess. Yet on the other hand they are the ones who have helped when we have fallen over, listened to us when a relationship has ended and provided unconditional love and support no matter what.

The memory of your mum may also relate to a particular smell. Who remembers playing outside and smelling the meal your mum is cooking knowing that the yell to come inside for dinner was about to interrupt your play time with your friends? Even your clothes had a unique smell that came from the washing powder but it still seemed to be special as your mum washed it slightly different to everyone else.

Even the way the meals were made by your mum can bring back key memories. Those peas that came with the roast had just the right amount of mushiness that made them extra tasty, the vegemite sandwich always seemed to have just the right combination and mix of butter and vegemite that meant you didn’t want to swap it for a lolly with your friend at school.

How have you captured that memory? Do you still have copies of letters that you may have written to each other when you were travelling, maybe you have photos from when you graduated from University or pictures of your children with their grandma that will last forever and be the lasting memory for your children.

Obviously the way you have remembered your mum is personal and unique. At Etched in Memories we can assist you to capture that particular moment in your life with your mother so the memory is everlasting.

Mother’s Day Memories

Mother’s Day is Sunday 13 May and while we should recognise and appreciate our mothers each and every day, Mother’s Day allows us to make a concerted effort to really make our mums feel special.

The days leading up to the 13 May are particularly busy at Etched In Memories and we always feel grateful that we are a part of creating a special memory or moment for many of the mums out there.  Our Mother’s Day Packages always prove to be a popular choice with many of the bears and personalised pendants being scattered in all directions throughout Australia and beyond.

Remember the quality of the pendant engraving is only as good as the quality of the photograph so here is a reminder about how to take a great photo for engraving.  The photograph you choose is a reminder of a particular moment – it could be as special as this summer night memory captured here, the birth of your child or a special holiday or outing.

And while the path of any relationship is never smooth, with plenty of ups and down and even moments of forgiveness, Mother’s Day allows you to focus on the good times and celebrate the special bond of mother and child.

An engraved pendant is a personal gift which continues to last well beyond Mother’s Day and for many years to come.  Although in reality there really is no gift that you could give your mum that could ever equal the gift of life she gave to you.

I love this quote and thought I would share it with you – “A mother understands what a child does not say.”  And for this reason alone, Mother’s Day, as commercialised as it has become, deserves to be celebrated.

Time To Take Stock

November to February is a particularly busy time of year for us what with the build up to Christmas, followed quickly by Valentine’s Day.  So now that these two huge retail events have subsided and the last of the Valentine’s chocolates have been eaten, we thought we would take a look at some of our favourite blog posts.

Special moments and occasions are celebrated every day at Etched In Memories each time an order comes in.  It certainly goes to show that we don’t necessarily need a holiday or special day to show how much we care.

The personalised pendants we create are somewhat similar to photographs which are centred around a special event or moment and create fabulous memories for both the giver and receiver.  Our memories are extremely important to us as individuals, as is the notion of remembering.  Remembering what, you might ask!  Douglas Pagel sums it up perfectly.

What is evident from our customers and their respective orders is the amount of love that is shared – regardless of the occasion.  We see it all!  From the celebration of births, the remembering of pets, the honouring of fathers and mothers to wedding proposals.  It is hard to not get caught in the whirlwind of excitement that our products create – particularly when we receive great feedback such as this.

To finish, here is a great quote by James Womack – sometimes we just need a little reminder.  You never know where your dreams may take you!

You don’t need New Year to make a change when it comes to your bad shopping habits – shop early, select carefully and make sure you give a gift that the recipient will be proud to wear.

Why Does Stainless Steel Make Good Jewellery?

What looks like silver but is even stronger, harder to scratch and doesn’t tarnish?

Stainless steel of course! It’s not just for body piercing and dog tags. It is a versatile and durable metal that is the next generation in stylish jewellery pieces.

Even better, as it doesn’t contain nickel, it is nonallergenic, will not colour your skin and can be worn by just about anyone.

Stainless steel is becoming more popular as a metal for funky as well as elegant jewellery pieces that will last a lifetime of normal wear. No need to save it for a special occasion as this almost indestructible metal can be worn every day and requires minimal cleaning and maintenance, unlike other materials that are coated and require regular polishing.

Due to its durability and strength, it is perfect for designs and finishes you wouldn’t consider on other metals that are just not strong enough, like engraving for example. And as pieces are usually carved from a larger piece into the desired design, you are limited only by your imagination and the creativity of the craftsman.

Last but not least, stainless steel is a less expensive option than gold or other more traditional metals used for jewellery. You can afford to have multiple pieces and experiment with different styles with less pressure on your bank balance.

Who would have thought a material traditionally used for kitchen sinks and surgical instruments could look so good?
